Current Status & Outlook Tropical Depression (TD) EMONG has moved out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) after traversing the Batanes Islands last night…now heading towards Southern China.

*This is the Final Advisory on this Tropical Cyclone. 

24-hr Outlook: TD EMONG is forecast to continue moving northwestward at a forward speed of 27 km/hr and will make landfall over Fujian Province, in between Shantou and Xiamen Cities late this afternoon. The system is expected to rapidly weaken and dissipate into a remnant Low upon crossing the mountainous terrains of Fujian and Jiangxi, China.

Where is EMONG? As of 5:00 AM PhT today, July 06…2100 GMT:

  • Location of Center/Eye: Along the southernmost part of Taiwan Strait (near 22.1°N 119.7°E)
  • Distance 1: 85 km southwest of Kaohsiung, Taiwan
  • Distance 2: 300 km northwest of Basco, Batanes
  • Distance 3: 326 km south-southeast of Fuzhou, China
How strong is it? Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min avg): 55 kph near the center…Gustiness: 75 kph.
